Job Statement

RobinsonBush, an employee benefits consulting firm, is seeking candidates for the position of Benefits Specialist.  Applicants should demonstrate leadership, strong project management skills, and the ability to research and problem solve.  The position requires meeting with clients on a frequent basis, and building effective relationships.

Essential Functions

  1. Assists Lead Consultant with client services duties including but not limited to:
    • Contract management
    • Request For Proposals (RFPs), reports and other documents
    • Review and redline of certificates of coverage, plan documents and contracts
    • Reviewing and editing client materials including rates, renewals and presentations
    • New benefit programs, communication strategies, and annual open enrollment
  2. Acts as a client advocate and as a liaison with employee benefit vendors for program development and problem resolution.
  3. Develops effective and ongoing working relationships with clients to provide high level service and satisfaction for all employee benefits / health and welfare benefits.
  4. Actively participates in client meetings and identifies required action items.
  5. Primary contact for client related compliance inquires.
  6. Keeps informed on developments in federal, state and local policies that impact employee benefits.
  7. Researches questions from clients regarding compliance matters, including state and federal laws such as the Affordable Care Act.
  8. Creates presentations, newsletters or other communications related to compliance issues.
  9. Perform related duties as assigned

Job Specifications and Skill Requirements

  1. Four-year college or university degree OR a combination of Human Resource experience, certification, education, and training equivalent to a four-year college degree.
  2. Knowledge of employee benefits principles, laws and regulations.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  4. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  5. Detail oriented.
  6. Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.
  7. Ability to independently plan and organize one’s own activities.
  8. Strong knowledge of computer applications.
  9. Ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
  10. Ability to solve problems using a logical and thoughtful approach.
