Raytheon COI is seeking an experienced and passion driven Software Test Engineer capable of supporting multiple system-level software projects in a variety of environments. The Test Engineer will be responsible for verifying the proper operation and reliability of software and reporting any deficiencies, limitations or risks.
Many of Raytheon COI’s projects are undertaken by small teams in close coordination with customers and follow Agile/SCRUM methodologies. Therefore, testing is a continuous process that often takes part in parallel with development. The Test Engineer must have the ability to quickly learn new technologies to support his/her projects, and in some cases, have the ability to support multiple projects. Competitive Test Engineer candidates will share many technical attributes with that of a Software Developer however, he/she will likely find more enjoyment in breaking software than fixing it.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 4+ years applicable experience
- Preferably testing system-level applications which may or may not have a graphical user interface
- Proficiency in some modern programming and or scripting language.
- Design, write, debug, and execute automated test scripts (eg. using Python, Perl, Bash, and/or Batch)
- Automated testing is often utilized as necessary and as time allow
- Basic understanding of networking (eg. TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL)
- It will be the responsibility of the Test Engineer to determine when
automated testing is an optimal solution in narrow time frames - Write, track, review and verify resolution of defects (eg. using JIRA, Mantis, Trac)
- Basic technical writing abilities
- Design, write, review, and execute test plans, procedures, reports, user guides, and other technical documentation
- The amount of documentation required is on a per project basis
- Communicate testing status to technical leads, software developers, program managers and customers
- Communication abilities
- Effectively communicate testing status to development teams and customer contacts
- Effectively communicate testing strategies to customer contacts during test events and product delivery
Desired Skills:
- Ability to read and review code in Python, Lua, C, C++, and/or Assembly
- Experience with software performance testing and use of software profiling tools (perf, gprof, valgrind)
- DevOps administration experience (Docker, Jenkins, GoCD)
- Linux and Windows system administration
- Proficiency in GUI-less operating systems is a plus
- Experience with version control solutions (eg. git, svn)
- Ability to clone repositories, checkout branches and build projects
- Experience using virtualization technologies (eg. VMware, Virtualbox)
- Ability to quickly build a variety of testing environments
- Experience with automation techniques such as vmrun or Vagrant is a plus
- Experience using network analysis tools (eg. Wireshark)
- Debuggers and disassemblers (eg. gdb, windbg, IDA)
- Requirements analysis & management
- Proposal writing experience
- Agile/SCRUM methodologies
Education required:
- BS degree (preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology). Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Clearance Required:
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance is required, existing clearance is strongly preferred
