About Us: RAYTHEON COI

We are seeking Network Engineers for Raytheon Centers of Innovation’s (COI) headquarters in Indialantic, FL. The site boasts nearly 200 talented engineers and support staff. The beachside office is 55,000 square feet, including a fully stocked cafeteria, two game rooms, and many research labs. Free-lunch Thursdays lets you mingle with co-workers, and a flexible schedule provides the freedom to balance your work time, play time, and family time as you see fit.

We have multiple groups for extracurricular interests, including surfing, athletics, chess, Dungeons and Dragons, and CTF competitions. Located in Florida’s Space Coast, this is a technology-focused area with great growth and career opportunities. Watch a live rocket launch from the Kennedy Space Center or just walk out to the beach across from the office to see it shoot across the sky. Additional activities include Orlando and its many theme parks, attractions, and cruises that depart from Cape Canaveral and Ft. Lauderdale.

COI’s passion is work that challenges, engages, and enables critical missions. Our research and development efforts cover the spectrum of security technologies for computer network operations. COI emphasizes employee career development, technical excellence, and passion for the mission. We provide the tools, training, and support to enable success of our teams. The environment at COI is high tempo to match the pace of our customers, while remaining casual, fun, and family-oriented. If it runs code, somebody in our office has looked at it.

Position Overview:

Our Network Engineers are first and foremost engineers with the same passion for research and development as all members of our team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and delivery of program systems, including security compliance. Sample tasking includes configuring racks of R&D equipment, automating system build outs, creating new internal tooling, and supporting the cybersecurity activities that those systems enable, in close coordination with local cognizant IT and IA resources.

Network Engineers at Raytheon COI aren’t just infrastructure builders and maintainers; they are expected to be users and stakeholders in COI’s successful and effective enablement of program operations. Candidates must be proficient with system and network administration as well as growing familiarity with binary analysis techniques and the underlying operation of networks and operating systems. Projects will be undertaken in small teams with close coordination with teammates and customers. A typical day might involve setting up a new test range, designing a project LAN/WAN, and/or writing code to automate manual processes.

This position is part of a larger team; however, the candidate is expected to work well on his or her own under general supervision. The candidate is expected to be self-directed, able to multi-task, and able to prioritize work.

Required Skills:

  • System administration (Linux, Windows, Mac)
  • Network configuration (TCP/IP stacks, switch/router configuration, routing protocols)
  • Automation support (puppet scripts, VM deployments, build system setup)
  • Infrastructure maintenance (patching, logging, backups, user accounts)
  • Virtualization support (vSphere, ESXi, VMWare)
  • Experience in system hardening (e.g., DIACAP and STIG standards)

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in one or more systems programming languages (e.g., C/C++)
  • Proficient in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python or Ruby)
  • Experience in computer network operations and/or computer network defense

Security Clearance:

Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship is required. Qualified applicants must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI government security clearance.

Our Interviews:

Our interviews are technical. Come prepared to tell us about your technical background and interests as well as to work through some of our questions on a computer or whiteboard. Our questions are meant to be thought provoking, not brainteasers or tricks. This is a chance to have a dialog with our team, and we hope you will enjoy it!
