The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida invites applicants to apply for the position of Community Engagement Liason.

Job Summary:

This position will create and implement a long term community engagement plan in order to strengthen community relations, increase public safety, and reduce crime through proactive engagement, outreach, and communication. This is a 2 year contract position that will report directly to the Community Relations Lieutenant.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent from four-year college or university in Business, Public Administration, Social Sciences or closely related field; and four (4) years’ experience in public/community engagement, community advocacy or community organizing/outreach with diverse demographics with two (2) years in program administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the public sector or a law enforcement environment strongly preferred.
  • Must have valid Florida driver’s license. Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training if assignment includes driving agency vehicle. Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver’s physical exam. Must successfully pass a medical exam.
  • Ability to identify key organizations and key players in the community who can coordinate with OCSO for community engagement purposes.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from citizens or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors while maintaining a positive image in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply the current goals and objectives of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Depending on assignment may be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Must be flexible with your work schedule.
  • Must have basic computer skills to include using word processing, email, spreadsheets, and database applications (e.g., Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).   

Salary Range: $44,636 to $54,974, based on experience
