General Summary:  To anticipate, recognize and reduce a security or crime risk and to take or initiate action to remove or reduce the risk or breach of security.  Also, a Lake Nona Security Officer shall assist members, residents, guests and staff when necessary. An Officer is responsible for performing their duties in a professional and lawful manner in compliance with these directives.  Officers are required to follow the lawful request of any superior officer.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Inquire verbally and visually of any person requesting access to Lake Nona Golf and Country Club to validate their authorized entry
  • Report and investigate any incident that affects the safety and security of persons or property within Lake Nona.  If necessary, write any reports or statements that may be required
  • Inspect the safety, cleanliness and preparedness of the assignment (gatehouse, patrol vehicle) prior to accepting the post from the officer you are relieving
  • Review all incident reports, printed materials and emails or faxes, etc. to insure you are aware of activities that are occurring
  • Respond to all electronic mail or communication to insure you have current information and to best serve the members, residents, guests, and visitors
  • Provide traffic/parking enforcement and control of vehicles driving within all Lake Nona property
  • Record any activities that occur during your shift
  • Maintain an accurate and complete log of all gate access and any items placed with your care, such as, mail, packages, keys, etc.
  • Conduct and document visual and physical surveys of unoccupied homes and construction sites
  • Conduct and document physical inspections of Lake Nona buildings and property
  • Respond to calls for service and emergencies as requested
  • Provide escort service to members, residents, guests, staff and 911 responders (Police, Fire, EMS) as needed
  • Perform motorized, foot, and bike patrol of common areas, parking garages, and lots
  • Enforce the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Lake Nona property
  • Perform all other duties as assigned 

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of security experience required, but will substitute for Military or law enforcement experience
  • Florida Security license preferred
  • Basic smartphone and Outlook knowledge preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • This position includes climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling and repetitive motions
  • Must have the agility, dexterity, and strength to pursue, apprehend, and detain uncooperative suspects
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to navigate through rough and uneven terrain
  • Must have ability to work in hot and muggy, and inclement weather conditions on continuous basis
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Must be physically able to do assigned work as outlined above
