This is responsible for actively leading the benefit intent conversations with Self-funded customer implementations related to new business, renewals, plan additions and plan changes for Key Accounts.

The is part of the Strategic Growth Operations (SGO) organization, which has overall responsibility for the installation of Key Account clients.

Primary Overall management and coordination of employer health plan benefits.

The Benefit Consultant is responsible for accurately capturing benefit intent, educating the customer on UHC standards, and responding to benefit questions.

The Benefit Consultant will document and maintain the customer s benefit intent through completion of the Benefit Template Builder (BTB) and collaborate with internal and external business partners to ensure employer health plan benefits are set up accurately and expeditiously.

Act as the primary point of contact, internally and externally, for all communication regarding benefit intent for self-funded new business, renewals, plan changes and customer funding changes sold by KA Sales.

Detail and capture customer plan design and provide proactive solutions to non-standard benefit requests while ensuring system compatibility.

Audit Sales documents for adherence to quality measures and reporting standards.

Request and follow up with all parties for documents required for the implementation.

Facilitate a new business and / or renewal benefit intent meeting with the customer either via a face to face meeting or use of WebEx or other telephonic communication.

This is a national position.

Preparation of plan materials including the BTB and Benefit Summaries.

Ability to independently research and resolve complex issues related to benefits, claim process, regulatory requirements, healthcare reform and State Mandates.

Actively participate in or lead cross-functional teams or projects.

Research installation issues and develop customer specific resolutions.

Attend and participate in Finalist Presentations.

May include representing the role of the Implementation Manager and Benefit Consultant.

Preparing a PowerPoint presentation for sales approval to present during the Finalist Presentation.

Represent and possibly attend in person an internal/external Benefit Intent Audit.

Responsibility to professionally represent SGO and UHC, accurately update all documents where errors may have been discovered and expeditiously submit the corrected documents to our Business Partners for correction.

Mentor new and existing Benefit Consultants.

The ability to work several hours of overtime each week during open enrollment, while maintaining a book of business and traveling.

Back-up to other team members and / or Business Manager for customer meetings, health plan meetings, Inventory Management calls, or Leadership calls.

Maintain inventory reports and meet TAT to meet department, team and individual MBO.

Other duties as required to support the customer implementation process.

Competencies and Best Practice for High Performers: Coordinate and lead all aspects of the benefit intent installation.

This includes managing implementation guidelines by assessing and interpreting customer needs and through client interaction telephonic, WebEx, face to face and written correspondence, active listening, and engaging in client effective questioning.

Communicate with internal and external clients via weekly/bi-weekly follow-up communication regarding implementation status and milestones.

Communication may take place through face-to-face meetings or conference calls and includes written confirmation following the meeting.

Maintain a book of business that consists primarily of complex, critical or non-standard benefits for self-funded customers - including cases with performance guarantees.

Researches and provides proactive solutions to non-standard requests and problems by interpreting the client request and aligning appropriate resources.

Act as a motivated team member who contributes to team building by providing leadership, motivation, inspiration and creative solutions to help achieve and maintain positive client and team relationships.

Actively lead and participate in team huddles and volunteers to assist/mentor other team members as needed.

May review work performed by others and provides recommendations for improvement.

Assist Business Manager or Director with when needed.

Key Words: Hartford, CT; Healthcare; UHG; United Health Group; Insurance.

High School Diploma / GED .

3+ years of implementation management or customer service related experience .

Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Outlook (mail and calendar), Excel and PowerPoint (create/edit/read/write documents, spreadsheets, email messages and presentation slides).

Ability to work overtime during peak periods for several weeks at a time or when requested .

Assets: Leadership & Mentoring Project Management experience or has participated on projects with specific assignments and timelines to meet.

Claims processing experience.

Medical Terminology .

Bachelor's Degree or higher Proficient understanding of Medical Benefits is required.

Experience with alternative benefits available to educate the customer.

Soft Skills: Strong face-out presentation and communication skills, written and verbal at all levels of management.

Ability to Multi-task - this includes working in airport, hotel, etc.

while traveling to stay current with book of business.
