Investigative Transcriptionist

The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida invites applicants to apply for the position of Investigative Transcriptionist.

Job Summary:

Operates computer, enters data, and provides verbatim transcripts of recorded data heard through earphones of Byte Scribe or transcribing machine.

Qualifications:                             

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One year (1) related clerical experience and/or training.
• Must be able to type 30 gross words per minute.
• Must have excellent computer, punctuation, spelling and typing skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive material.
• Ability to deal with profanity and potentially graphic and/or gruesome material.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to law enforcement personnel and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to keep file of records.
• Ability to perform routine clerical responsibilities including data entry.
• Ability to receive and route phone calls as necessary.
• Ability to transcribe transcripts of interviews, deputy involved shootings, undercover conversations, controlled telephone calls and 9-1-1 radio communications verbatim.

Additional Processing:

• Must pass Typing Test
• Panel Interview
• Upon selection, must be able to pass a psychological evaluation.

Salary Range: $12.02/hour or $25,001/year
