Implements and communicates administrative decisions, directives, policies and regulations to library staff and the general public.

Assists in formulating and continuously reviewing system-wide short term and long range services and capital improvement goals, objectives and priorities.

Acts on Library Services Manager's behalf in his/her absence.

Maintains familiarity with County initiatives and goals, particularly those of Neighborhood and Community Services.

Handles interviews with local press, and requests for information regarding library services and programs.

Performs public speaking as needed at community engagements.

Participates in supervisory, general staff, and various board meetings.

Assists Library Services Manager with development and adjustments to budget.

Prepares monthly, annual and special statistical and narrative reports and analysis as required.

May create other written documents such as award nominations, grant applications and reports, policy and procedures, reports, interview questions, and promotional materialsOversees, directs and evaluates supervisory staff at the Central Library.

Provides assistance to supervisory staff in the development, planning and approval of projects within the various library departments.

Maintains regular communication with all supervisors.

Provides fiscal, signature, work order and timecard authority.

Approves forms and contracts related to vendor agreements and to volunteer and work programs.

Assesses community needs and develops partnerships with community agencies and organizations.

Participates in community projects, particularly literacy driven initiatives.

May serve on local boards.

Handles customer complaints and problems, resolves delinquent accounts, coordinates facility repairs and addresses staffing issues system-wide.

Coordinates responses or directly replies to public's written comments on patron suggestion forms.

Handles security issues including trespass.

Creates incident reports and forms as required.

Maintains security codes and alarm passwords as required.

Coordinates security officers' hours.

Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.
