Exhibit Maintenance Technician. Part time position. The Maintenance Technician ensures that all exhibits are clean, and that includes any manipulative, graphics, cabinetry and the like attached to an exhibit. It also includes exhibit hall scenery, props, sets and other thematic elements such as banners, wall hangings, foliage that comprise the scenery for the exhibit hall. The Exhibit Maintenance Technician is also responsible for powering on exhibits and A/V equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Power on all exhibits and report to the Exhibits technical staff any found issues.
- Clean all exhibit surfaces.
- Clean all supporting elements such as text panel acrylic covers, benches, stools, chairs. As warranted, remove acrylic covers to clean/dust interior of cases and displays.
- Clean free-standing items such as blocks, model/puzzle pieces, and the like
- Inspect each exhibit during cleaning; make sure it is operational. Look for any safety and cosmetic issues such as cracks, splinters, jagged edges, loose laminate, exposed wiring. Report any problems immediately
- Inspect and note any damage to the exhibits or facility.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Self-starter; able to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented, organized, dependable.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to communicate, verbally and written, and document effectively.
- Use simple hand tools effectively; read and understand written directions
- Able to operate a genie lift and scissors lift
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Moderate lifting (min 25lbs)
- Pushing, carrying, bending/kneeling.
- Highly mobile; high level of walking and standing required.
