OVERVIEW/POSITION PURPOSE:

Key member of the Development team, the primary responsibility of the New Business Development Director is to develop and maintain an active list of prospects/pipeline through a variety of methods including, but not limited to networking, cold calls, referral development and inter-company introductions in order to close new revenue opportunities for Give Kids The World Village (GKTW). In this prospecting role, the goal is to acquire new and expand opportunities for revenue within existing donors to grow the active revenue base across all functional areas (corporate, internal events, third-party events).

The role of the New Business Development Director includes identifying high-level contacts within various industry segments to identify issues, trends, developments, standards gaps, and opportunities. The incumbent will also be the GKTW lead for selling sponsorships for internal and select third-party fundraisers benefiting GKTW. The role will demand continual building of a pipeline of new donor prospects and developing account plans. He/she will use an aggressive approach to account management and consultative selling. While serving in this role, the New Business Development Director will be familiar with the Donor Bill of Rights as developed by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and adhere to those standards at all times.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applicants should be comfortable delivering sales goals assigned and crafting a detailed business plan to help meet and exceed those goals
  • Works with various GKTW stakeholders by utilizing a consultative approach for selling
  • Ensures all new business revenue targets are achieved while delivering exceptional customer care to all prospects and donors of GKTW
  • Able to interact comfortably, both over the phone and in person, with prospects, donors, volunteers, referral sources and colleagues both in and outside of GKTW
  • Develops and implements sponsorship strategies for GKTW internal events including, but not limited to, the Black and White Gala, Challenge for Hope, Over The Edge, Hope In One Golf Tournament and other fundraising and operational events
  • Develops, maintains and enhances high, wide and deep relationships with prospective accounts/donors
  • Where applicable, consults with internal team members to deliver the right solution(s) to solve specific donor problems and achieve our mutual business objectives
  • Identifies solution enhancements or innovations to best serve & anticipate customer/donor needs
  • Exemplifies and maintains accountability for the GKTW mission, standards, and core values for staff and volunteers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to travel for extended overnight occasions, work weekends and evenings when required
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including a battery operated golf cart
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 25 pounds

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor Degree (BA/BS) in Business Management, Events Marketing and/or Sales
  • 5+ years business development/corporate sales background (new business development preferred)
