Job Title: Chief Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Director of Facilities
The Chief Engineer oversees all areas of Engineering. Provide leadership role for oversight and training/development programs to ensure an efficient, 100% safe and secure Village environment. Ensure compliance of all policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor KPIs, activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to ensure an efficiently managed engineering program
- Establish annual operating budget and recommended staffing guidelines for Engineering department
- Oversee preventative maintenance program, ensuring work pre-scoped and scheduled consistently
- Prioritize projects and work orders through HotSoS maintenance software
- Key liaison with all departments regarding engineering initiatives, projects or concerns. Identify and resolve any items requiring attention or support
- Develop and adhere to determined standards for safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity
- Adopt and utilize weekly reports and checklists to ensure staff are providing safe, effective, and controlled services
- Ensure adequate staffing/volunteer coverage of operating areas
- Ensure cost saving and effective volunteer group projects for visiting groups, participate in group meetings and planning
- Active role in hurricane preparedness and ride out crew
- Develop and maintain a training program, SOP’s, policy and procedures, schematics of electrical and plumbing throughout the Village
- Active role with construction projects
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for overall direction, coordination and supervision of Engineering department
- Manages and directs Engineering staff and managers
PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands/arms to lift/move objects
- Ability to move/lift up to 75 lbs.
- Work in outdoor weather conditions

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Must be able to perform each essential duty & responsibility satisfactorily
- Knowledge and skills to manage a staff and volunteers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Results based leadership and management skills
- PC skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Decisive and creative problem solving skills
- Flexibility to meet the needs of various guests, staff, volunteers, participants
- Ability to drive battery-operated cart
- Clean driving record
- Bilingual, English and Spanish is helpful
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
- At least five years of previous resort/hotel management experience working with similar functional areas
- At least five years hands on experience in performing plumbing, electrical, HVAC and additional maintenance functions
