Lifeguard

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of guest and members in the facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.  Practicing and enforcing rules to patrons in a friendly and courteous manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Ensure proper use of safety practices and procedures, in addition to opening and closing procedures
• Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations
• Enforce all Water Park facility policies, rules and regulations fairly and consistently
• Inspect the facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions to a supervisor
• Administer First Aid and CPR as required
• Complete necessary records and reports
• Assist in maintaining all areas of the Water Park cleaned
• Welcome and greet members and guests in a friendly manner
• Educate and assist members and guests to foster an enjoyable atmosphere
• Participate in scheduled in-service training sessions
• Maintain fitness level (swimming skills, strength and endurance)
• Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

REQUIREMENTS
• Must be 17 years of age or older
• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred
• CPR certified preferred
• Must be able to swim
• Must be able to successfully complete and pass all lifeguard and CPR training provided
• Thorough knowledge and application of Lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
• Strong observational skills to proactively identify guest needs and ensure safety guidelines are being followed
• Understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures
• Required skills - leadership, public relation, decision making, team work
• Be able to work in a hot, cold, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time
• Be able to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours per shift
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs
• This position requires full flexibility & availability for AM/PM shifts, weekends & holidays
• Candidates in this role will be able to read, write, speak and understand English
