Job Summary:

Designs and creates forms, brochures, signage, logos, event stationery, and miscellaneous documents in print and electronic formats.

Minimum Qualifications and Abilities:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Must have intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications; must have advanced skills in graphic design and desktop publishing applications (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator). Must have the ability to learn and utilize specialized applications and use the internet effectively to research information; works on a PC platform.
  • Must have knowledge of printing and publishing guidelines.
  • Must understand basic digital photography equipment and procedures.
  • Must possess excellent written communication skills with great attention to detail. Must be able to effectively proofread.
  • Ability to effectively present information to agency employees in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to study layouts and sketches of proposed brochures, forms, signage, logos, and/or related materials to become familiar with assignment.  Must understand basic design layout.
  • Ability to determine style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform to reproduction requirements; or receive specific instructions regarding these variables.
  • Ability to formulate concepts and render forms, newsletters, brochures, signage, logos, event stationery, or miscellaneous documents in print and electronic formats. May produce models or graphic interpretations of concepts to be approved before implementation (e.g. vehicle designs and wall displays).
  • Ability to discuss projects with appropriate staff at various stages of completion and make changes as necessary; create drafts and revisions of documents.
  • Ability to prepare projects for printing and operate wide format printing equipment for signage requests.
  • Ability to ensure respective online materials are updated as necessary. Such changes include public e-brochures, portal listing of agency forms, and social media images.
  • Ability to record which agency forms are currently used, need revisions, or are obsolete; updates this list on the agency portal. Uses design software to create agency forms.
  • May photograph agency events and functions.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (wide format printer requires heavy rolls of media). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Preferred Qualification:

  • At least two (2) additional years of related work experience.
  • Possession of intermediate photography skills.
  • Basic experience mounting, framing, and hanging photos, signs, or other graphics.

Processing:

  • Pre-qualifying Phone Interview.
  • Selected applicants must submit three (3) to four (4) pieces of artwork (e.g. forms, brochures, signage, logos, etc.) via email or hand delivery prior to scheduled panel interview date.
  • Panel Interview.
  • Selected applicant must successfully pass a physical and other selection processes when needed.

Salary:

  • $17.81/hour or $18.35/hour with 3+ years of experience
