Job Title:                              Human Resources Director        

Department:                       Human Resources

Reports To:                         President/CEO

OVERVIEW/POSITION PURPOSE: 

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Human Resources Director develops and implements Give Kids The World policies, programs and practices.  Responsibilities include all facets of HRMS management, recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, employee on-boarding, compliance, employment law and risk management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assumes leadership role in complete employee life-cycle to include recruitment, selection, onboarding, engagement, retention and development
  • Develops and administers compensation and performance management system
  • Develops and may facilitate training/development programs for staff and volunteers
  • Acts as a resource for management and staff on employee relations issues/concerns and policy
  • Lead programs for staff engagement, recognition and assessment
  • Oversee HRMS system to include maintenance, reporting and tracking
  • Lead benefit design, enrollment, billing and administration
  • Ensure organizational compliance (reporting, employee notifications, recordkeeping)
  • Manage unemployment and workers compensation programs
  • Lead risk management initiatives including primary liaison with broker on liability and property insurance programs and claims
  • Additional duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands/arms to lift/move objects
  • Ability to move/lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including a battery-operated golf cart
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

COMPETENCIES AND SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources administration.
  • Ability to develop long-term plans and evaluate accomplishments.
  • Proven ability to exercise solid judgment and protection of confidential information
  • Ability to mediate interpersonal situations with success in conflict resolution
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, vendors and the general public.
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Education, Communications, or related field is required
  • Master’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • Five years leadership and management experience in the HR field is required; hospitality or non-profit experience is preferred
