Tennis Pro & Facility Maintenance Technician, Titusville YMCA Family Center 

The Titusville YMCA is searching for a part-time Tennis Instructor to work with all levels and abilities. A passion for tennis and to share skills you have acquired is a must. This individual will have some custodial responsibilities of the tennis facility as well, including 6 clay tennis courts, 3 indoor racquetball courts, and 1 group exercise room.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan and implement participant instruction. Ensure that YMCA Character Traits are evident in all activities.
  • Provide direct teaching leadership, direction, rules and supervision to each program participant in each class of instruction.
  • Take responsibility for proper record keeping, and award and progress cards at the conclusion of each session.
  • Marketing in the local community to recruit new participants and YMCA members, including attending special events and presentations to local schools.
  • Drive sales for current tennis programming and create new offerings for all levels and ages.
  • Maintain staff schedules for 4-5 part time maintenance staff reporting directly to the tennis pro.
  • Ensure written lesson plans are available for substitutes for each day of each class taught.
  • Promote program utilizing available marketing tools.
  • Maintain the quality and inventory of the supplies, equipment and materials. Assist in proper storage of program equipment.
  • Assume equal share of the regular housekeeping chores, such as preparing for program activities and cleaning up after activities, ensuring safety and maintenance of entire facility.  Clay court maintenance for 6 tennis courts and surrounding common areas, as well as facility upkeep of indoor facility containing 3 racquetball courts, 1 group exercise room and common area used for special events.  Tennis office, shared covered patio, locker rooms, and restrooms included as well.
  • Provide direction, rules and supervision of program activities for both youth and adult programming.
  • Maintain all standards required by the YMCA of Central Florida and the YMCA of the USA.
  • Report all accidents to the Supervisor, and complete proper health log and/or accident/incident form.
  • Establish a relationship with all participants to ensure developmental growth. Share responsibility in interpreting and communicating participants’ progress to parents.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment, both physically and mentally, to ensure the operation of a quality program.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to the Program Coordinator/Program Director, and follow risk procedures as outlined in YMCA of Central Florida policy.
  • Report all suspicions of child abuse to proper contacts as outlined in YMCA of Central Florida policy.
  • Remain up to date on emergency procedures and Family Center policies.
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required, including support of volunteer recruitment and YMCA Annual Fund donations.
  • Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Central Florida in the Family Center and its programs.
  • All other duties assigned by Management.
  • Revenue and participant growth in programming could lead to full time status.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred. 
  • Previous related experience in Tennis instruction, including pro certification.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
