JOB SUMMARY:

Ensures that mail is picked up, sorted, and delivered to the proper section of the agency. Ensures that Witness Subpoenas are mailed and sent to Civil Process Officers (CPOs) in a timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must successfully complete mail handling on the job training within six (6) months.
  • Ability to retrieve, sort, and determine where to route Post Office and inter-office mail.
  • Ability to maintain a delivery route and schedule while delivering and picking up mail at each section of the agency.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot the postage machine to ensure that the postage for outgoing mail is accurately calculated.
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialized software (STAMPS program) to sort and separate subpoenas for mailing and/or CPO delivery.
  • Ability to follow strict procedures when handling suspicious or potentially contaminated mail.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Outlook, and the Portal to find employee locations for mail delivery; and learn specialized software applications (e.g., Pitney Bowers Sendsuite Tracking Software and D1950 Inserting System).
  • Ability to maintain and order supplies for the mailroom and mail equipment.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to post office employees and employees of the agency.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license. Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training, if assignment includes driving an agency vehicle. Use of an agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing the agency’s biennial driver’s physical exam.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Six (6) months experience with mail, courier, or delivery operations preferred.

SALARY:  $12.02/hr or $12.39/hr with three years of experience.
