Foundation Scholarship Specialist

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:
Administers Foundation scholarships, maintains  the scholarship database, and the scholarship application and awarding process in collaboration with other College departments. Works with the Foundation’s leadership to expand the overall donor base, including the identification, solicitation and cultivation of new and existing scholarship donors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Communicates with scholarship donors to ensure that the donor’s intent for the scholarship donation is defined and followed, and that scholarship agreements are maintained. Maintains the scholarship database and ensures accurate and timely application cycles, reviewing, and awarding of scholarships. Works closely with Financial Aid in the scholarship awarding process.
  2. Works with the Development staff for the planning, development, coordination, implementation and execution of strategies relating to scholarship donor stewardship and recognition. Assists with writing donor reports and acknowledgments.
  3. Works directly with College departments to manage scholarship awarding and spending of Foundation funds specific to those individual departments.
  4. Creates and reviews reports relating to the awarding of Foundation scholarships and renewal of scholarship donations and provides updates and annual scholarship reports to donors.
  5. Represents the Foundation and College at scholarship award presentations. Meets with existing scholarship donors and donor/civic organizations to cultivate, grow and steward relationships.
  6. Works with the Foundation leadership to identify prospective donors and build interest to increase engagement with the College.
  7. Provides backup to maintain the Foundation website and social networks.
  8. Performs all site and position specific responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. One year of experience in higher education, fundraising, marketing, or communications.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Three or more years of experience in higher education, fundraising, marketing, or communications.
  3. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word software.
  4. Experience using development-focused databases.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  2. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, students, donors, vendors, board members, and community members.
  3. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  4. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including telephone and public relations skills.
  5. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  6. Knowledge of specialized methods of fund raising.
  7. Ability to find creative directions and solutions for achieving the goals of the Foundation and the College.
  8. Ability to treat confidential information and situations with sensitivity and discretion.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  10. Committed to working in a multicultural environment.
  11. Demonstrates a professional, courteous demeanor.
  12. Excellent composition, editing and proofreading skills.


WORK CONDITIONS and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  1. Works in an office environment.
  2. Works flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  3. Travels between College campuses and to other local destinations.

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. Pay Benefits and Work Schedule

Annual Salary is $33,953 to $36,075 commensurate with education and related work experience exceeding the minimum required qualifications.
