Testing Specialist II

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:

The Testing Specialist II provides testing services to the Seminole State College community.  Services include entry and exit test administration; scoring and data management of assessment instruments; and placement analysis for new students.  Maintains security of tests, answer sheets, testing materials and student responses.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Administers entry and exit exams for college credit, AHS, GED, ESOL and Career Technical and programs following ACA APA test administration and standardization procedures.
  2. Accurately assists the assessment center with routine testing functions such as test administration, scoring and data entry into appropriate databases.
  3. Completes cross training in the following areas: career programs, career credit entry level testing, professional testing, make-up testing, testing at outreach campuses, ESOL, ABE/GED and AHS.
  4. Administers testing services for the Professional Testing and Certification Center.
  5. Works as test administrator or proctors tests and assures security in the administration and maintenance of exams.
  6. Physically transports testing material(s) up to 12 lbs. from one location to another.
  7. Continuously circulates in testing lab(s) to assist students taking tests.
  8. Remains current on and enforces all test publisher procedures and requirements in the delivery of all Professional Testing Center functions.
  9. Must obtain certifications needed to administer appropriate tests within three months of employment. 
  10. Completes assigned Assessment and Testing Center projects within a reasonable timeframe.
  11. Provides up to date directory information and refers students to appropriate person or unit. Screens telephone calls to provide information or make referrals, and provides counter service in reception areas
  12. Performs all site and position specific responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  2. Experience working in a testing environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Psychology or a related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES (KSAs):

  1. Working knowledge of testing center computer applications, such as PeopleSoft, Microsoft Word, and testing software.
  2. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  3. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  4. Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  5. Demonstrates a professional, courteous demeanor while serving a high volume of customers.
  6. Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced multi-priority environment.
  7. Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity.
  8. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  1. Works flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  2. Works inside an office, testing lab and/or classrooms.
  3. May be required to travel to administer examinations in assigned outreach facilities, e.g., Juvenile Detention Center, mental health facilities, John Polk Correctional Facility and drug rehabilitation centers.

Conditions of Employment

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. Pay Benefits and Work Schedule

Annual Salary is $25,902 to $27,527 and may be commensurate with education and experience exceeding the minimum required qualifications.
