JOB SUMMARY: 

Support Group Assistant may be a relative caregiver who has successfully completed the Kinship Care program. The Support Group Assistant will aid in establishing and developing support groups for relative caregivers.  Participates in organization’s performance and quality improvement efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.         Searches  for support group locations

2.         Coordinates volunteer participation for support groups

3.         Assists in creating and distributing flyers for support groups

4.         Purchases group supplies (i.e. food, crafts, etc.)

5.         Assists relative caregivers in hosting in-home support groups

6.         Helps families locate transportation and respite in order to attend support groups

7.         Aids in the development of group activities

8.         Reports progress and communicates regularly with Family Support Coordinators

9.         Provides assistance to Family Support Coordinators for support groups as needed.

10.        Puts welcome packets together, open and closing packets together for families, basic filing of paperwork, check file cabinet for supplies needed, does check list of files and reports missing documentation to family support coordinators.  

11.        Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:           

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Human Services field, with one year of experience working with children and families. Individual may have experience as a relative caregiver and successfully completed participation in a Kinship Care program. Bi-lingual preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:         

·           Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense of license suspension.  

·           Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance.  Must be insurable under CHN’s current auto insurance policy.

·           Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.  

·           Must successfully complete  and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.
