Media Production Specialist I - Temporary - Part Time

Description:

Sets up and operates audio and video equipment for concerts, college events, meetings, presentations, or webcasting. Performs pre-production and post-production work. The position reports to the Supervisor of Media Production.

Essential Functions: 
1. Serves as videographer or camera person on remote coverage or in the studio which requires moving and/or holding camera equipment of up to 50 pounds and/or standing for long periods of time.
2. Performs pre-production work such as setting up microphones, arranging sets, preparing copy and performing related clerical duties; operates and maintains a variety of production equipment such as teleprompters, videotape recorders, audio equipment and light sets.  This may require lifting, pushing, or pulling equipment of up to 50 pounds.
3. Sets up and operates computer editing systems, titling software, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product; select and combine the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story.
4. Performs post-production work; such as review and edit video tape; trim film sequences to specific lengths, insert music, graphics, sound effects to complete video tape
5. Inserts music, dialogue, and sound effects, to arrange sequences, and to correct errors; determine the specific audio and visual effects and music necessary to complete videos.
6. Install, adjust, and operate electronic equipment to record, edit, and transmit video conferencing or multimedia presentations.
7. Sets up equipment required for production; performs routine repairs or reports malfunctions to appropriate staff; properly stores equipment after use.
8. Performs other site and position specific responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
1.   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
2.   Familiarity with AV equipment, sound and video production.

Desired Qualifications:
1. Two year college certificate or diploma.
2. Experience with AV production, production set up, and computer applications for editing, digital and sound effects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
2. Knowledge of graphics, photography, sound recording, scripting, audio and video production and good instructional procedures
3. Knowledge of high-end computing equipment for streaming, audio, video and other digitization and network delivery.
4. Knowledge of applicable copyright laws and the Fair Use Doctrine in an education environment.
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environments with multiple conflicting deadlines
6. Ability to coordinate and integrate instructional technologies, distance education, and production systems in a higher education environment
7. Ability to follow through on projects with minimum supervision.
8. Ability to produce high quality digital still photography and videography, graphics, art work, audio recordings, or other forms of audio-visual materials
9. Ability to learn new and emerging technologies, software, hardware and applications as they apply to media production.
10. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
11.  Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
12. Skill in managing one's own time and the time of others.
13. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment.
