Job Title:          Volunteer Services Coordinator
Department:   Volunteer Services
Reports to:      Volunteer Services Management

 

Overview/Purpose:

The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for fulfilling 100% daily coverage with qualified and committed volunteers to successfully operate all Give Kids The World areas.

Duties & Responsibilites:

  • Greeting, scheduling and supervising volunteers during scheduled shifts
  • Filling 100% of call-ins or no shows for volunteer positions
  • Supporting recruitment, recognition and retention efforts
  • Serving as liaison between GKTW staff and volunteers and meeting with appropriate supervising staff on a regular basis
  • Solving volunteer conflicts and reporting incidents and challenges
  • Managing special projects and large volunteer groups
  • Daily reporting and maintaining schedules of designated areas
  • Representing Give Kids The World at assigned community events and fulfilling speaking engagements
  • Conducting new volunteer orientations and Village tours as necessary
  • Composing content for monthly volunteer communications
  • Facilitating specialized volunteer training sessions
  • Clerical duties such as answering phones, lobby desk coverage, submitting work orders and requisitioning supplies
  • Adherence to attendance standard
  • All other Village support duties as assigned 

Physical Demands Beyond Normal Office Environment:

  • Able to regularly walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands/arms to lift/move objects
  • Ability to be on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to move/lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and/or holidays

  • Public speaking experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), volunteer database experience and phone etiquette
  • Ability to communicate, understand, speak, read, write English to professionally communicate with GKTW departments/guests/volunteers/corporate partners   
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including a battery-operated golf cart
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • 3+ years of previous volunteer services experience preferred
  • Guest Service experience preferred
  • Database experience preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus
