POSITION SUMMARY:          

Work duties include performing hot work inspections, non-emergency alarm system checks, sprinkler system shutdown and refills, and various other calls for service (as assigned by supervision). Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed through feedback, performance, and reports. This position may include variable shift-work including overnight shifts.  Work schedule is subject to change to meet the Department’s needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a High School graduate or possess a GED acceptable to the District.
  • Preferably two (2) years of related experience in any of the following: electrical work, alarm systems, sprinkler systems, security or theme park customer service.   
  • As condition of continued employment, employee must obtain and have ability to maintain NICET I Certification (Inspection, Testing & Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems) within one (1) year from date of hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work duties include performing hot work inspections, non-emergency alarm system checks, sprinkler system shutdown and refills, and various other calls for service (as assigned by supervision).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Employee will be required to successfully complete training courses relevant to job tasks.
  • Regular, dependable attendance required.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid Florida State Driver's license and maintain eligibility under the District's commercial vehicle program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While engaging in the duties of this position the Employee performs lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently. Employee sits frequently. Employee stands occasionally and walks on varied surfaces frequently. Employee frequently bends/stoops/crouches, climb/balances. Employee occasionally pushes/pulls, kneels and crawls. Employee uses their hand(s)/arm(s) to reach in any direction and seize, grasp, hold and turn object using hand(s). Employee uses fingers, versus whole hand, to pick, pinch and feel objects. Employee sees, talk and hear as they communicate with others in person, electronically, by phone or radio. Visual functions include near and far acuity, the ability to identify and distinguish colors and requires adjustment of the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus,

Employee will operate motor vehicle(s) that involve the use of hand/foot controls.

Annual Emergency Power Test Inspections performed (a minimum of 15 times a year) require constant walking throughout entire shift.

PAY:      Wage ranges between $16.70 and $22.28 per hour.
