The Summer Camp Worker is responsible for the safe supervision of groups of 8-10 children ages 6-12 both onsite and on field trips in a summer day camp program. Position includes planning and implementing a variety of safe, active and passive activities for utilizing facilities both indoors and outdoors. Requires a 40 hour per week commitment for 10 weeks over the summer.

The Summer Camp Worker performs work that is routine and well covered by existing policies, procedures or instructions.

Minimum Age Requirement: 18 years of age
  1. Provides the assistance in the coordination and implementation of programs and special events activities for the City. (95%)
    1. Coordinates and implements programs for a variety of groups, including the summer camp program.
    2. Organizes and instructs individuals and groups in a variety of recreational and athletic activities.
    3. Maintains records and files, prepares reports, records daily operations, inspections and maintenance in appropriate logs.
    4. Completes the set-up and clean-up of recreation events and programming.
    5. Responds timely to customer requests and work orders.
    6. Adheres to laws, regulations and policies of the City and of the assigned department. Follows instructions provided by supervisor, Department Director or their designee.
  2. Additional Duties and Responsibilities (5%)
    1. Follows safe working practices and has a working knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
    2. Completes the identified required or assigned training timely and applies acquired knowledge and/or skills.
    3. Participates in department meetings, staff meetings and other related activities.
    4. Maintains, preserves, retains and disposes of public records pursuant to FS Chapter 119.
  3. Emergency Management Role
    1. Participates as a member of the City staff as required to take action in the event of an emergency.
    2. Acts in the assigned role to support the City in disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts as described in the City of Casselberry Emergency Management Plan, assigned by supervisor or designee.

Education and Training:
A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.

A minimum of up to one (1) year experience in special events, recreation or related field is required.

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be made to determine acceptance of past driving record.

Security Clearance:
Florida Department of Law Enforcement background clearance.
