Job Title:          Groundskeeper

Department:   Engineering

Reports to:      Chief Engineer, Engineering Manager

OVERVIEW/PURPOSE:

This position performs a wide variety of general groundskeeper activities such as:   landscaping, repairs, service, and preventive maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Landscaping – perform various landscaping duties, including, but not limited to watering, weeding, tree/shrub trimming and working with contractors & volunteers
  • Perform minor repairs and general maintenance for irrigation pipes, valves, sprinkler heads and timers
  • Landscape lighting, which can include changing fixtures and bulbs
  • Apply weed control, in limited areas, throughout the Village
  • General grounds maintenance to include, but not limited to pressure washing, trash receptacle upkeep, litter removal, painting of curbs, gutter cleaning, feed ducks and koi fish
  • Vacuum, blow and sweep public areas throughout the Village to ensure all leaves and debris are picked up for a clean “Show Ready” look
  • Assist with pest removal
  • Assist with identifying and providing solutions for safety issues throughout the Village
  • Assist, when needed, with painting and basic repairs of public buildings and villas
  • Take on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary by Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager.
  • All other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs., unaided
  • Ability to work in small, confined, poorly lit, or unconditioned spaces or environment
  • Able to repetitively reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
  • Able to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Able to wear proper PPE for job duties in the field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Operate both gas and electric equipment including, but not limited to street vacuum, edger, chainsaw, palm tree trimmers, trailers, pressure washer, blower, etc.
  • General knowledge of plants and shrubs
  • Demonstrates keen attention to detail and quality product
  • Ability to communicate, understand, speak, read and write English to communicate with guests, staff and vendors
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule to include rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours of work
  • Ability to safely drive motorized vehicles, including battery-operated carts
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • High School Diploma; related courses and/or vocational training is preferred
  • 1-2 years of related experience to include both landscaping and general maintenance
  • Previous hospitality experience is preferred
