Position Overview

This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in the non-ferrous yard to include processing metals, ensuring employees are working safely, receiving material, ensuring metals meet quality standards, etc.  This position is a hands-on, working supervisory position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Works safety to prevent on-the-job injuries. Wears appropriate PPE at all times according to safety rules.
  • Ensure all plant personnel work safe to prevent on-the-job injuries.
  • Participate in safety training for shop personnel.
  • Ensures the productive flow of material and work through the plant to achieve production requirements and goals as set by the superintendent.
  • Attends meetings as required to share information regarding plant operations and learn new processes.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties by sweeping, picking up trash, removing trip hazards.
  • In conjunction with the plant manager, coach and counsel employees for performance.
  • Train new hires; ability to lead/motivate others.
  • Unloads materials from trucks and rail cars; loads materials onto trucks for delivery using forklifts and/or cranes.
  • Receives material from balers, loaders, etc. and inspects for quality.
  • Assist in the accuracy of inventory reporting and inventory management along with the plant manager.
  • Communicates with fellow co-workers, supervisors, and other personnel about production issues.
  • Completes reports for shift as required.

Experience and Skill Requirements

  • 5+ years Supervisory Experience.
  • 5+ year in industrial or construction industries preferred.
  • Metals knowledge A++ 

Education Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
