Physician Coder II - Orlando Health Patient Accounting - Day Shift - Orlando Health Heart Institute
Accurately and efficiently accesses all information systems to secureand assemble all necessary physician records in order to accurately codeprofessional physician and/or physician extender services.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of coding certificate programrequired
Computer/typing literacy, knowledge ofAnatomy, Physiology and Medical terminology required.
Thorough knowledge of CPT, ICD coding asevidenced by results of coding skills test of 75% or better.
One of the following national certifications:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)through the American Academy of Professional Coders renewed every year
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) throughthe American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) renewed
Certified Coding Specialist-Physician(CCS-P) through the American Health Information Management Association
(AHIMA) renewed every year.
Certified Coding Associate (CCA) through the American HealthInformation Management Association (AHIMA) renewed every year.
One year certified coding or billing experience in professional orphysician practice coding.
Reviews medical records and codesphysician services utilizing official classification systems.
Verifies billable physician services byreviewing physician documentation for adherence to the Physician at TeachingHospital
rules set forth by the federal government.
Submits to their Senior Coder any issuesor trends found within the documentation of a particular healthcare providerfor
evaluation and follow up.
Collaborates with members of thespecialty team to consistently monitor financial goals within their specialtyin order to satisfy
Interfaces with the Central BusinessOffice to ensure appropriate and complete follow up of patient accounts inorder to maximize
Communicates effectively with physicians,physician extenders, physician offices, members of the coding team and manager.
Utilizes resource material available indepartment to support accurate coding practices.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Demonstrates good communication skillsboth verbal and written.
Provides data for production reports
Maintains 90% accuracy rate.
Attends departmental and other meetingsas scheduled.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctualattendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and otherfederal, state
and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all OrlandoHealth policies and procedures.
