JOB SUMMARY

Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles. Repairs inoperable or damaged vehicles. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Determines the services required for each vehicle and which vehicles are ready to be issued. Performs general clerical duties to include typing, maintaining daily vehicle logs, and documenting monthly vehicle consumption. Depending on assignment, assists in the operation of the Fleet Service Desk and perform road calls on agency vehicles. #oj

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Auto Technician (Mechanic):

  • Accredited high school or GED diploma
  • One (1) year related experience and/or training
  • US Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and good driving record
  • Good verifiable employment history and background
Starting Salary: $33,113 or $34,112 with 3 years of experience

Auto Technician I (Mechanic I):
  • Accredited high school or GED diploma
  • Must have National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for Brakes, Heating & Air Conditioning
  • Two (2) years related experience and/or training
  • US Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and good driving record
  • Good verifiable employment history and background
Starting Salary: $34,112 or $35,152 with 3 years of experience

Auto Technician II (Mechanic II):
  • Accredited high school or GED diploma
  • Must have National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for Brakes, Heating & Air Conditioning, Electrical/Electronic Systems, and one additional certification
  • Two (2) years related experience and/or training
  • US Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and good driving record
  • Good verifiable employment history and background
Starting Salary: $35,817 or $36,889 with 3 years of experience

Auto Technician III (Mechanic III):
  • Accredited high school or GED diploma
  • Must have National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for Brakes, Heating & Air Conditioning, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Suspension & Steering, Manual Drive Train & Axles, and Automatic Transmission
  • Two (2) years related experience and/or training
  • US Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and good driving record
  • Good verifiable employment history and background
Starting Salary: $37,627 or $38,771 with 3 years of experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, smell, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. Minimal exposure to bodily fluids and/or blood may occur. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Depending on assignment the employee may be required to work evening, midnight and/or weekend shifts. Shift times may vary.
