To meet the needs of the growing Osceola County area, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital has opened an emergency room and medical pavilion on a 13-acre campus located at 1001 E. Osceola Pkwy., Kissimmee, FL 34744 (E. Osceola Parkway and S. Orange Ave.) The three-story, 60,000-square-foot facility includes 24 treatment rooms on the first floor and provides state-of-the-art emergency care by board-certified ER physicians and a highly skilled clinical team, caring for adults and children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with access to expert care that's close to home, when it counts. The added convenience of online scheduling for minor emergencies is also available at this location for minor emergencies that are not life- or limb-threatening.

Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and Osceola Free Standing ED, part of Orlando Health, is seeking a Sonographer to join their team! This position will float between Dr Phillips Hospital and the Osceola Free Standing ED. The sonographer will be required to perform diagnostic sonography exams and assist with other duties such as, but not limited to, assisting with patient transportation, registration and exam room turnover.

The qualified applicants will meet the following requirements:

  • Sonography experience
  • Graduate of accredited school of sonography or meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Registered in General and OB/Gyn preferred
  • Registered in Vascular highly preferred
  • Registered in RVT or have RVT pending
  • Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate
  • Current AIDS certification

Education/Training

  • Graduate of accredited school of sonography or meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines

Experience

  • Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, and breast localization, and knowledge of Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography.

Essential Functions

  • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patients physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patients clinical history and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases
  • Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Assists with directing daily work flow.
  • Orients and precepts staff.
  • Participates on committees.
  • Maintains punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, and procedures.

  • Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Maintains well stocked and organized work areas
  • May be required to work at any facility
  • Provides patient transport
