Education/Training

Mastersdegree in Genetic Counseling required

Licensure/Certification

CertifiedGenetic Counselor by the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or AmericanBoard of Genetic Counselors (ABGC) renewed every five years.

EssentialFunctions

  • Obtainand review patients medical and family histories.

  • Helpassess a patients history in order to determine if the family may benefit fromgenetic testing.

  • Facilitatethe process of genetic testing.

  • Assistpatients and their healthcare providers in the interpretation of genetic testresults.

  • Formulatea medical management plan based on the patient's history, family history andgenetic test results.

  • Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Healthpolicies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Maintainscompliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
