The Fish Handler is responsible for preparing items for shipment.

Duties include:

  • Receiving, unpacking, verifying, grading, cleaning product, repacking, loading and shipping items.
  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
  • Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Stack cargo in locations such as loading docks as directed, using pallets.
  • Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Position receptacles, such as bins, carts, or containers so they can be loaded.
  • Attach slings, hooks, or other devices to lift cargo and guide loads.
  • Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.


Requirements
Preferred Qualifications

  • Willing to work Mandatory Saturdays and Tuesdays
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good organization skills – prioritize work assignments and manage work time.
  • One (1) year work-related knowledge, skills or experience.
     

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of equipment (forklifts and pallet jacks), policies and procedures to promote effective safety and security of people and facilities.
  • Ability to lift and move products in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ability to exert physical force to lift or carry objects.
  • Ability to understand oral or written instructions to carryout and accomplish work assignments.
  • Working knowledge of the English language.
