Overall Responsibility:

The Digital Solutions and Support Program Manager works within the department and cross-functionally across the organization to ensure successful project completion, effective new product launches, and ongoing product support programs. We are looking for exceptionally strong organizational and project management skills, paired with the ability to succinctly articulate HMH Digital Solutions and Support needs to provide world class care for our valued customer base.

 

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Working with program/project sponsors and key stakeholders, complete charters including defining scope, goals, deliverables and resources required
  • Create project schedules and timelines
  • Manage project implementation from beginning to closure
  • Develop mitigation plans and contingencies
  • Complete post-project evaluations
  • Prepare and deliver complete and regular communication around all aspects of each program or project including status, changes and risks
  • Complete data analysis, case analysis and business process mapping in order to document workflows as well as to identify and quantify inefficiencies
  • Participate as an individual contributor level on programs and projects as assigned

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven experience successfully managing multiple competing priority projects in a complex and rapidly changing landscape
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to source applicable program and product information from various sources and prioritize activities in disseminating this data in-line with release to production timelines
  • Must be well versed in initiating and facilitating meetings and planning agendas to capture needed data and timelines from partner teams
  • The ability to generate dashboards, presentation slides, and reports providing program updates to support management and various levels of HMH leadership
  • Knowledge of product lifecycles and methodologies including new program and product launches as well as iterative release schedules for legacy offerings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to manage effective communications up through senior levels of management
  • Must be a strong team player that is able to work across the organization to move initiatives forward to achieve project goals
  • Act as a Champion for the customer experience while meeting organizational operating expense objectives

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Manager, or related work experience
  • Experience with support environments and mindset
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint required, Visio preferred)
  • K-12 Educational Publishing Experience preferred
  • An understanding of modern technology stacks and ability to operate in an Agile environment, typically acquired with a combination of 2+ years of education and/or software development experience, is strongly preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work at an approved HMH facility (Orlando) with the possibility of remote 1 to 2 days/week
  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other digital devices
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
