INFECTION PREVENTIONIST / STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
(HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES - ROHR HOME)
Pay Range: $25.79/hr. - $38.62/hr. ($53,643.20 - $80,329.60 annually)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:
Responsible for the development and maintenance of an infection prevention and control program emphasizing the prevention and management of infections. Provide educational in-services to promote the growth and development of licensed and unlicensed staff. Perform skills checks for continuing staff development.
Responsible for the implementation of the program which includes but not limited to developing policies and procedures to establish infection control practices and keeping an up-to-date infection control log book to identify risk patterns.
Review and maintain the facility policies and procedures for Infection Prevention and Control to ensure conformity in accordance with governing authorities.
Oversee Antibiotic Stewardship Program which includes checking lab reports and ensuring appropriate antibiotic therapy is provided.
Conduct monthly meetings with Medical Director, Pharmacist, Administrator and Director of Nursing to report findings.
Responsible for following Universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques and training staff according to established guidelines.
Responsible for assessing and providing scheduled educational in-services to licensed and unlicensed staff reflecting the Department of Nursing philosophies, standards of practice and state requirements (HIPAA, Biomedical Waste, etc.)
Conduct skills checks to establish competency levels and document according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines.
Perform related job duties.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of Nursing principles and standards.
Knowledge and skilled in techniques of infection control.
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, officials and the public.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
Ability to plan, review and supervise work of others.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed with the State of Florida Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Must possess or be able to obtain a certificate as an Infection Control Preventionist within 90 days of employment.
Must have a valid driver's license or be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment within this classification.
A comparable amount of training and related experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications with the exception of the Registered Nurse License.
Must undergo Level 2 (FDLE) screening submitted electronically before commencing work and every 5 years thereafter and attest, upon hiring, that they meet the requirements for employment and agree to inform the employer immediately if arrested for any isqualifying offense.
New employees, who have worked for another health care facility, may obtain background screening information from their previous employer to satisfy the new requirements. Persons who have been screened and qualified in accordance with the requirements of Section 435.04, Florida Statues and who have not been unemployed for more than 90 days thereafter, and who under penalty of perjury, attest to not having been convicted of a disqualifying offense since the completion of such screening, shall not have to be re-screened.
Effective November 1, 2017, the work schedule will be a minimum of 32 hours per week with the flexibility of the Rohr Home management team to schedule up to 40 hours per week.
This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
