Position Summary:

Landscape & Grounds Services is currently seeking an Athletic Groundskeeper to join their driven team to help maintain Rollins College as the most beautiful campus in the nation. Our athletics landscape crew is responsible for several athletic field maintenance tasks, and to implement the Florida Best Management Practices Services in their day-to-day duties.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining, renovating and preparing multiple athletic fields (Baseball, Softball, Soccer and Lacrosse)
  • Operating mowers and equipment in performing routine duties for athletic turf
  • Grooming of infield clay, practice cages and warning track
  • Performing routine sprinkler maintenance in addition to preventive maintenance and minor repair of all grounds keeping equipment
  • Performing maintenance and caretaker work in mowing grass, cleaning grounds, emptying trash, edging, weeding, and maintaining perimeter shrubs
  • Assisting in the application of fertilizers and weed control
  • Turf over-seeding, turf aeration and top dressing throughout the season.
  • Planting/transplanting turf and landscape materials
  • Lifting and carrying heavy objects and/or equipment as needed
  • May move supplies, equipment, and furniture
  • May assist other Facilities Management personnel in performance of routine and emergency tasks
  • Performing related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school education is required in order to read, write, and follow basic instructions
  • Requires a minimum of two years of job-related experience
  • Previous NCAA athletic field experienced preferred
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures used in athletic field maintenance
  • Knowledge of infield regulations with clay, chalk and paint boundaries
  • Ability to read and understand label instructions on chemicals
  • Physical ability to handle, lift and/or carry heavy objects and equipment

Work Environment:

This position will work in the Winter from 7:00am to 3:00pm, and Summer from 6:30am to 2:30pm, Monday - Friday.

  • On-campus position
  • Work requires physical exertion and exposure to both hot and cold weather
  • Overtime and weekends may be required as needed
  • Must be punctual and reliable. Daily attendance is required
