Sr. Operations Technician - Lock Shop

Representative Duties:

• Interprets Master Keying Guide; uses appropriate discretion and special knowledge of lock systems to preserve the integrity of master key system while meeting customer requests. Installs, services, and repairs various types of locks and security devices. Maintain and repair locking devices and emergency egress devices (manual and electronic) at multiple County facilities using a variety of hand and power tools, test and calibration equipment and hand held programming devices. Utilize computers/peripheral equipment along with specialized software programs to maintain Inventory Controls, as well as to document changes to keying systems. Cut new and replacement keys by code, to include identification stamping, along with documenting inventory changes in a specialized database. Checks and maintains assigned facility, equipment or system for preventive maintenance and critical operation factors. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Consults with specific trades' employees or supervisor on special maintenance and repair problems.
• Document daily work/travel on hand-held electronic device for the purpose of maintaining maintenance records.
• Performs other related work as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in repairing, adjusting doors, and installing door hardware, issuing and cutting keys, and installing various types of door hardware.  Additional years of the specified experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. 
• Must possess a valid Class E Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

Preferences:

• Applicants with a High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Applicants with knowledge of building maintenance in a multi-trade environment on facilities, buildings and building systems.
• Selected candidate must be willing to be sent on maintenance calls and assist other skilled trades’ personnel when needed.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Notes:

All candidates selected for hire in the Administrative Services Department must successfully complete a Criminal History and Background check.

Hours will vary according to operational needs to include 2nd and 3rd shift. Normal work hours may be 7:00am to 3:30pm. Standby duty assignment for after hours and weekends is a requirement of this position. The initial Maintenance District assignment will be the Facilities Management Special Services. However, this position is subject to assignment at any Facilities Management location due to project, task or operational requirements.
