Job Description:

Plans, manages, and monitors technology-related projects from initiation through implementation to ensure successful delivery of products and/or services within the defined timeline, budget, scope, and quality.

This role is part of the Graduate and Research Information Technology (GRIT) team and is responsible for projects related to business services, reporting and analytics, and research computing for the Office of Research. This role reports to the Manager, Information Technology on the GRIT Business Services team.

Other job responsibilities include:
 

  • Manages technical and non-technical projects and portfolios related to research IT in support of Office of Research goals. Facilitates all areas of project planning and reporting from conception through close-out phases. Creates/maintains project management plans, key project documents, meeting minutes, status reports, and tracks the progress of projects according to plans.
     
  • Accountable for creation and management of comprehensive project plans encompassing both IT and business deliverables (scope and schedule) and communication throughout the project life cycle. Accountable for the success of GRIT project governance, annual project schedules, forecasting, and the strategic direction of enterprise-level IT initiatives supporting research.
     
  • Accountable for developing change management plans for projects and/or change initiatives. Includes evaluating the impact of planning changes, identifying risks, developing risk mitigation tactics, and identifying and managing anticipated resistance to change.
     
  • Develops risk management strategies for projects, managing and monitoring risks and mitigations throughout project lifecycles; Advises business stakeholders and facilitates the development of Statement of Work (SOW) or Request for Proposal (RFP) for research IT projects.
     
  • Communicates issues with GRIT and all levels of senior leadership in the Office of Research as appropriate. Interact with other Office of Research and University personnel to ensure effective communication, cooperation, and collaborations.
     
  • Monitors all project expenses; Proposes and manages funding sources and budgets; Support procurement involving contracts in support of technology expenses; Manages vendors, project leads, team members, and all other stakeholder relationships.
     
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The schedule may vary as required.

$75,809 to Negotiable

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates should have 4+ years of relevant project management experience.
     
  • Proficient in the use of project management software tools.
     
  • Master’s Degree in an appropriate area of specialization preferred.
     
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
