Clinical Department seeking for certified, experienced and customer service-oriented Medical Assistant for a high volume and well-established GI practice in Orlando.
Education/Training
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school required.
Licensure/Certification
- Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification – and
- Maintains current certification by one of the following agencies:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) (www.aama-ntl.org)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) (www.amt1.com)
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) (www.nhanow.com)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (www.ncctinc.com)
Essential Functions
- Assist the physicians in daily activities such as: running clinics, triaging phone calls, and processing tests results.
- Rooming patients and obtaining all pertinent documentation such vitals, current medications, allergies, pharmacy, test results, past medical history, and medical records.
- Maintain exam rooms cleaned before and after patients visits.
- Obtaining prior authorizations for medications.
- Setting up patients for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Crohn’s disease treatments.
- Checking out patients by providing medication samples, consent forms, orders, referrals, prescriptions, and educational literature to patients.
- Travel to satellite clinics as needed.
- Making phone calls to patients to obtain additional clinical information for chart completion.
- Assist physicians during patients’ examinations as needed.
- Assisting patient walk-ins.
- Processing normal and abnormal tests and biopsies results according to protocol.
- Processing prescription requests, refills, and prior authorization electronically.
- Retrieving tests results from hospitals, labs, and imaging facilities.
