MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST (Information Technology)

PG 18 ($20.60 - $30.79)

Full Time Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

MAJOR FUNCTION

The Mobile Device Support Analyst is responsible for supporting the county's cellular phones, cellular data devices, smartphones, tablets, and the Mobile Device Management system. This position functions in cooperation with the IT Service Desk, PC Support, and Network staff to provide quality end-user support for Information Technology (IT) applications, products, and services.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Support the deployment of mobile devices and mobile applications, enrollments,
  • troubleshooting implementation and connectivity issues, providing ongoing operational support of mobile devices and mobile applications.
  • Prepare instructions and have the ability to coordinate with personnel to activate, enroll, and otherwise set up mobile devices for utilization within an automated environment.
  • Utilize Meraki Mobile Device Management to support and manage customer mobile devices (Apple iPads/iPhones). Will run activity, performance, and compliance reports on mobile devices within the Meraki MDM.
  • Troubleshoot VPN, WiFi and cellular communications problems as they occur during the deployment and ongoing operations within the network.
  • Determine the most efficient methodology and path for securing the mobile infrastructure to include assessing technical configurations and security settings for mobile devices.
  • Understand threats to mobile ecosystems and have the ability to design security solutions in support of mobile environments.
  • Review applications and provide recommendations on whether or not applications should be approved for use on the mobile platform
  • Assess security risks for integrating enterprise and commercial mobile apps into the mobile environment.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and support operational changes, enhancements, and modifications to securing the mobile environment.
  • Configure and maintain devices within the County's text message archiving system.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Experience with a Mobile Device Management system (Meraki, Airwatch, etc.)
  • Experience with the remote deployment and management of iOS and Android devices, including the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP).
  • Experience with Help Desk Tracking or ticketing Systems.
  • Working Knowledge of Wired and Wireless Networking.
  • Working knowledge of Network concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and troubleshooting connectivity.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and creative thought-processing skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and cooperatively with end-users, IT staff,
  • management and vendor support personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma. Minimum of two years' experience in MDM support that includes trouble-shooting and repair of iOS devices.

A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred applicant will have experience with County Government, specifically dealing with Polk County Information Technology applications and operations. Additionally, preference will be given for experience with Meraki Mobile Device Management, and vendor coordination of cellular accounts with Verizon and AT&T Wireless.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must provide and utilize personal transportation in daily travel to remote sites to perform service calls.
  • Must have a home telephone (or primary cell phone) within thirty (30) days of employment in this classification as employee is subject to call out.
  • This position is subject to being placed 'Stand By'/ 'On Call' for scheduled nights and/or weekends.
  • This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
