The Rollins College Facilities Services Department is currently seeking a full-time Locksmith Assistant/Carpentry Helper to join their team!

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Install replace, and repair locks and related door hardware, including building new cores and changing key combinations.
  • Coordinate with IT Department for electrified door hardware and access control as required.
  • Establish and maintain key card file, entering all key codes and material into computer.
  • Repair locks on post office boxes, gymnasium lockers, file cabinets, and desks.
  • Assist with special event set-up and take down.
  • Perform other departmental duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires at least one to two years of job-related experience.
  • Requires a valid Florida driver’s license and satisfactory MVR to operate college vehicles.
  • Experience in utilizing a master key system and re-keying existing facilities as required.
  • Ability to use locksmith tools, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to to read, write, and follow basic instructions in English.
  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions and schematics/prioritize and complete active workload.
  • Ability to adapt to different situations during the course of the day and changes to schedules.
  • Demonstrates cross-cultural awareness and communication skills to maximize effective collaboration across diverse groups on-campus.
  • Physical role requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending twisting, and kneeling. Prolonged standing and walking to various areas around campus to access and clean rooms, including climbing stairs.
  • Model and deliver Rollins’ service philosophy through competent, collaborative, responsive and respectful service to others.
  • Demonstrates ability to work professionally with staff, faculty, students and external constituents at all levels.

The Locksmith Assistant/Carpentry Helper is scheduled to work 7.5 hours/day, 37.5 hours per week. The schedule for this role is:  Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (with a 1 hour paid lunch).

As a condition of employment in this position, the incumbent will be subject to call in outside of regular hours in order to respond to emergencies, including the preparation and maintenance of College facilities, grounds, systems and services during inclement weather crises.

*Works overtime, special events and weekends may be required as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Works on-campus at multiple work sites including indoors and outdoors.
  • Work requires physical exertion and exposure to both hot and cold weather.
  • Physical ability to exert physical effort, i.e. handle, lift and/or carry heavy objects and equipment.
  • Must be punctual and reliable; daily attendance is required.
