JOB SUMMARY: Oversees all aquatic venues and attractions at Universal's Volcano Bay. Provides specific oversight of the day-to-day business of the Aquatic Operations team, Operations Base, and Events team in addition to strategic oversight of the Lifeguarding Program in compliance with industry, certification, and regulatory requirements.


  • Responsible for all aspects of the safe operation of aquatic venues and attractions including compliance and certification training, incident reporting, and reviewing ride surveillance. Responsible for monitoring industry trends and ensuring compliance with UPR, ASTM, American Red Cross, and regulatory standards. Updates and enforces company policies and procedures and departmental training and safety. Works with UPR partners to ensure consistency in policy and procedures at similar venues across parks.
  • Oversees the management of all aspects of the operation for Aquatics, Operations Base and Events teams. This includes guest service standards, team member satisfaction, facility upkeep, safety and training. Oversees approximately 700+ hourly team members in addition to directly overseeing the Management team of the park.
  • Ensures realistic development of budgets that meet organizational requirements of satisfying team member and guest needs while remaining efficient in development of budgets. Includes budgetary management of inventory including ride vehicles (rafts, floats, and tubes), lifeguard equipment, and instructor training equipment. Reviews necessary reports to ensure daily/monthly/annual budgetary adherence or to ensure reasonable ongoing responses to operating conditions.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, hiring, and training of exempt staff. Oversees the Managers, Assistant Managers, and Supervisors by providing feedback on performance, giving direction on how to handle, solve, and prevent situations. Ensures management team is meeting all objectives and accountabilities. Provides direction for team member disciplinary actions and collaborates with HR team when necessary for guidance.
  • Active partnership with Talent Development and other operational departments to align the Lifeguarding program with latest industry requirements, certifications, and more. Provides strategic insight and initiatives in the safe practice of the Lifeguarding program for the park.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school degree or GED required. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business Administration or Hospitality preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 7+ years of supervisory experience required, water park experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, or applicable Lifeguard certification preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Basic knowledge of ASTM, ADA, Pool Code, and OSHA standards are helpful; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Some travel required for certifications and UPR conferences.
