The Security Communication Specialist serves as the primary contact in a variety of issues regarding the safety and security of employees and guests.

Education/Training

High school graduate or equivalent. Ability to quickly and accurately type and process calls for service. Working knowledge of word processing software, preferably Microsoft Office-based products, and Computer Aided Dispatch System.

Experience

One (1) year experience in a business office setting with telephone responsibility or PBX/Telephone operator and/or public safety type communications experience on multi-channel radio required.

Essential Functions

  • Answers a high volume of emergency and routine calls for service accurately and professionally
  • Monitors burglary, panic, and fire alarm systems 24 hours a day.
  • Obtains pertinent information from callers ensuring a safe, timely, and professional response of field resources.
  • Operates and maintains a specialized computer system for rapid entry and processing of all calls for service.
  • Records and updates sensitive information on persons and security alarm systems.
  • Works with confidential employee and patient information and security access codes and information via a specialized computer program
  • Dispatches field resources via multi-channel radio system.
  • Enforces FCC rules and regulations to prevent fines and/or license revocation/suspension.
  • Coordinates tactical communications between field resources, supervisory personnel and administrative staff, local law enforcement and other outside agencies during critical situations, emergencies and disasters.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

  • Participates in training and assisting new employees.
  • Rotates weekends and days off when necessary.
  • Coordinates response of field resources to helicopter launch and landing operations.
