The Center for Career & Life Planning at Rollins College is seeking an Assistant Director, Internship Advising to join their team! The Assistant Director for Internship Advising is a full-time staff member and primary responsibilities include career and internship advising, managing the academic internship program and the course registration, providing support and guidance to faculty and students, and assisting employers in aligning their opportunities with the Rollins College Internship Posting Policies. One of the main purposes of this role is to increase access to high impact internship experiences for all students.

Position Preview:

Internship Advising

• Provide career advising with a primary focus on internship planning, search strategies, applying and interviewing, and connecting the internship to future career plans.

• Provide internship registration guidance for undergraduate and non-MBA graduate students in the internship search process for assistance with credit options, their major/program requirements for

• Academic Internships, and the Academic Internship Policies.

• Evaluate and recommend internship search resources for students and the Center for Career & Life Planning, including national databases.

• Collaborate with campus partners to provide internship focused outreach to classrooms and student groups.

• Provide training to CCLP Graduate Assistants and Career Ambassadors on best practices in internship advising and the Rollins College Internship Posting Policies.

Academic Internship Course

• Integrate career readiness into the syllabus, curriculum, and individual assignments for the

• Academic Internship Course for undergraduate students, using Canvas, in collaboration with the

• Instructional Design office.

• Coordinate and administer the registration process for Academic Internship Courses during the fall, spring, and summer semesters, including general elective and major-credited courses, in collaboration with the Registrar’s office.

• Liaise with faculty, department chairs, and the Academic Deans office to coordinate staffing of the Academic Internship courses and communicate internship policies. This includes providing frequent trainings to faculty members on the Academic Internship Program.

• Serve as the main contact for students who experience issues with their internship site or internship supervisor. Consult with faculty instructors as support, if needed.

• Market and promote the internship program at Rollins, particularly registration deadlines. This includes frequent website updates, social media marketing, and internal campus communication.

Internship Funding Opportunities

• Oversee the administration and application processes of all Funded Internship Programs within the CCLP, including the Gateway Fellows summer funding program and JFF internships.

• Market and promote internship funding opportunities through collaboration with other departments on campus, outreach to student groups, social media and email campaigns, and flyers.

• Compile and share data related to all internship funding opportunities for external marketing and storytelling purposes as well as internal reporting purposes.

Employer Outreach

• Oversee the Rollins College Internship Posting Policies, including communication to internal and external partners.

• Manage the review of all internship descriptions submitted to Rollins by employers to assess if they meet the Rollins Internship Criteria. Follow-up with employers as needed to recommend internship description revisions.

• Serve as the main point of contact for Academic Internship site supervisors and employers, assisting them in creating quality high impact experiences for students.

• Engage employers and community partners through outreach and targeted site visits, to educate employers on the Rollins College student experience and enhance partnerships.

Student Employee Supervisor

• Support Associate Director of Career Advising in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling and supervision efforts for the front desk and Career Studio coverage. Assist with training student employees and graduate assistants on front desk duties and procedures as well as professional representation of the Career Center.

• Hire, train, and supervise graduate assistants and undergraduate staff as it relates to their support of Rollins College Internship Programs.

• Delegate CCLP projects and assignments to appropriate student employees as needed.

Additional Responsibilities & Support

• Support Gateway programming, strategy and implementation through cross-departmental collaboration, integration of Gateway language into CCLP programming, and support helping students identify and articulate their Gateway experiences.

• Stay up to date on industry standards through professional development opportunities, including webinars and listservs.

• Compile assessment data based on various Internship Programs in the Center for Career & Life

• Planning, to aid in programmatic changes, analysis of learning outcomes, and departmental reports.

Support the Center for Career & Life Planning with outreach presentations, student and alumni career development appointments, and document reviews when needed and as availability allows.

• Represent Career & Life Planning team and Rollins at various professional associations, panels, and meetings as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with constituents including students, staff, employer contacts, vendors, students, alumni, faculty and parents, while establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.

• Awareness of legal issues as they pertain to employment practices within the US. 

• Understanding of international student population needs and legal issues pertaining to their curricular and optional practical training (OPT and CPT).

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially related to data tracking and analysis; able to think critically and make judgement calls based on multiple sources of information.

• Ability to develop, monitor and evaluate multiple, detailed office systems including budgets, event registrations, tracking of resume and cover letter reviews, employer databases and mass mailings.

• Knowledge, skill and proficiency in using a variety of computer software programs including Word, Excel, Access and comfort using other specialty programs.

• Comfort supervising and a strong ability to direct the work of others.

• Possess strong written and oral communication skills; comfort in presenting to groups of internal and external constituents.

• Knowledge and practice of strong organizational and time management skills.

Service excellence focus with commitment to meeting the unique needs of students, alumni, employers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.



• Master’s degree in human resources, counseling, college student personnel, or a related field.

• Experience with Handshake and/or Qualtrics.

Work Environment:

• Campus-based, front-facing customer service position, working in an office environment.

• Work requires visual strain and use of computer.

• Evenings and weekends as appropriate and required.
