Overview

The Orange County, Florida, Facilities Management Division is seeking a highly qualified Mail Clerk. This position is responsible for providing mail services to internal and external customers. Representative Duties

  • Receives and sorts mail.  Operates equipment such as a mail scale, postage meter, automatic letter opener and assures that the meter is properly maintained and has sufficient postage.  Maintains supplies and materials.
  • Calculates and affixes correct postage to letters and packages. Provides customer service to county staff regarding postal services and special mailings.  Assists departments in processing high volume mailings. Responds to complaints from both internal and external customers.
  • Assures that mail is properly routed by updating the names of officials, directors, managers, employees, departments, and divisions.  Determines correct addressees for returned or misdirected mail.
  • Makes regular deliveries to the post office and county buildings on an assigned route and schedule.
  • Maintains various logs, records, and files.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of mail room experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain a Florida Driver’s License within six months of hire date.

Preferences

  • Ability to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays due to operational requirements.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

General Functions

Performs varied work in centralized mail service for departments and activities under the Board of County Commissioners.

Supervision is received from the Mail Room Supervisor or other designated supervisor and is reviewed through observation, conferences, results obtained and periodic reports.

NOTE:

All applicants selected for hire in the Administrative Services Department must successfully complete a Criminal History and Background check.

Standard work hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work hours may include, weekends, after-hours, and post hurricane response due to operational needs.

This position is subject to assignment at any Facilities Management location due to project, task, or operational requirements.
