Job Summary:

• Steward the Rollins Athletics brand internally, on campus and externally in the community.

• Establish marketing relationships and opportunities for athletics; create marketing plans for department and events; align athletics plan with that of entire college.

• Serve as department’s director of multimedia and oversee Tars Sports Network.

• Serve as main point of contact for “Tommy Awards”, end of the year banquet.

• Serve as main point of contact for Rollins Sports Hall of Fame.

• Serve as primary internal/external contact for assigned sports.

• Write, edit and disseminate news releases, and other department publications.

• Serve as head statistician for assigned sports.

• Serve as multimedia/social media director for assigned sports.

• Handle requests for information from media and general public for assigned sports.

• Ensure Rollins Athletics brand is maintained in print and on Web.

• Promote student-athletes for athletic and academic awards.

• Develop and execute innovative approaches in enhancing the student-athlete experience.

• Update NCAA, Sunshine State Conference, and affiliate organizations through seasons.

• Home game management:

• Host visiting team and media at all home events.

• Staff official table and press table at all home events for assigned sports.

• Provide game day programs, scripts and announcements for Public Address Announcer.

• Host radio announcers (provide game notes and statistical info).

• Liaison with television production crews for home game broadcasts when applicable.

• Distribute credentials to accredited media when applicable.

• Manage Assistant Director of Communications and work study students.

• Collaborate with the Office of Career Services to develop, market, and implement engaged. programming to facilitate students’ participation in internships within the athletic department.

• Create and maintain a gameday student work force (interns)

• Hire, train, and supervise all department interns.

• Collect and maintain data on students participating in internships and provide reports for stakeholders.

• Serve as department’s main point of contact for development staff.

• Primary graphic designer/ coordinator of publications for all sports.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or related field.

• Five years experience in professional and/or collegiate athletics management and communications.

• Extensive knowledge of NCAA rules, compliance, statistics, and practices.

• Ability to work within and maintain branding standards set by Rollins College Athletics.

• Knowledge of Multimedia (audio/visual broadcasting), social media, desktop publishing and website applications.

• Ability to multi task and prioritize throughout the work day/week.

• Rollins College is a member of the NCAA Division II. Therefore any person working with an NCAA team must abide by the prescribed guidelines outlined in the NCAA manual.

• Rollins is also a member of the Sunshine State Conference. Understand and abide by the conference standards approved by the conference office with regards to providing athletic training assistance to other conference athletes at the home team site.

• Any person representing Rollins College Athletics is expected to maintain proper appearance and conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Work Environment:

• Campus-based, front-facing customer service position, working in an office environment.

• Ability to work many nights and weekends during the sports season.

• Flexible to ever changing schedule and media needs associated with intercollegiate athletics.
