Position Purpose

This position will be a part of the International Transportation Team and will include but not be limited to being responsible for planning, analyzing, executing, optimizing, and measuring key transportation opportunities for in-bound and out-bound global transport costs. This will require responsibility and coordination throughout the entire supply chain. Identify optimization opportunities to reduce costs.

Measures

  • Focused on servicing internal and external customers
  • Analyzing international transportation spending trends
  • Identifying gaps in the supply chain process
  • Ensures all SOP’s, Work instructions are up to date and compliant

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Accountability for the tracking and tracing of ocean containers to minimize demurrage and detention costs
  • Follows-up on detention and demurrage situations
  • As an Analyst the role may include but not limited to SOP’s, & Work Instructions,
  • Assist with daily transportation operations as part of the International Transportation Team
  • Report raw material shipment tracking details giving maximum visibility of the inbound supply chain
  • Assist with root cause analysis of service failures, developing plans to reduce/eliminate these occurrences and reporting finding/solutions with recommendations to Management
  • Creates and analyzes reports to support business execution
  • Support Asset Recovery for all international movements in regard to transportation costs and establishing supply chains in accordance with ISPM 15 regulations
  • Continual analysis of CHEP Supply Chain driving out inefficiencies and costs
  • Facilitates the accurate and timely payment of freight invoices and related issue resolution
  • Expedites critical issues and manages supplier and carrier information for on time delivery schedule, communicating with Sourcing, Planning and Operations
  • Facilitates communication between CHEP contracted carriers and CHEP suppliers for efficiencies on booking, loading and routing CHEP freight correctly
  • Stays current on International Transportation industry and CHEP issues.
  • Coordinates with Planning, Sourcing, Logistics, and Operations within CHEP globally

Challenges/Problem Solving

  • Must be able to identify & resolve International Supply Chain problems related to invoicing, shipment tracking and carrier performance.
  • Support International RFQ’s through analytics and making recommendations to dept. manager
  • Be proactive to minimize International demurrage & detention charges 

Authority/ Decision Making

  • Authorized to resolve customer problems and issues
  • Recommend the use of new carriers and forwarders to International Manager
  • Recommend changes to supply chain
  • Recommend changes to SOP’s and Work Instructions

Qualifications

BS in Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent experience

3 -5 years of experience in International Transportation or Supply Chain Analytics

  • Basic import / export compliance knowledge

Experience

  • Knowledge of the international transportation industry including ocean, rail, barge, drayage, FCL, LCL, and airfreight
  • Understanding of how to conduct RFQs
  • Fundamental understanding of CHEP Global Operations and business units preferred
  • Thorough understanding of the CHEP Network pallet flows and seasonality preferred
