PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Trauma Informed Specialist's role is to assess, plan, develop, coordinate and provide treatment, therapy and support services to program participants.  They are to advocate for youth participants and provide ongoing support in a way that positively impacts their lives and families.

 

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  1. Provide behavioral and mental health sessions to program participants with responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revisiting overall treatment plans.
  2. Administer behavioral/mental health assessments as necessary to diagnose psychological, emotional or behavioral disorders.
  3. Develop plans to improve participants' mental and emotional well-being.
  4. Conduct ongoing case management of youth, involving their parents/guardians and support systems as needed, while adhering to HIPAA standards.
  5. Assists program participants with developing coping skills to aide daily challenges.
  6. Document participants progress and maintain permanent record of their activity according to established methods and procedures.
  7. Provide outreach to engage participants' families into treatment practice
  8. Educate and support program participants' families and advocate for the participants' rights and preferences.
  9. Maintain ongoing, reciprocal communication with intra-agency staff regarding participants' progress in the program.
  10. Plan and coordinate events to support specific or emerging mental of behavioral health crisis
  11. Provide support and education to staff regarding response to behavioral and mental health issues exhibited by youth.

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:  Maintains close, daily contact with Service Director and Club leadership team to ensure program effectiveness; youth needs, strengths and interests are being met. Provides assistance to program staff as needed to support specific or emerging mental or behavioral health needs and crisis.

External Duties:  N/A

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • State Clinical licensure preferred (LPC, LCSW, LMHC, and/or Licensed Psychologist) or a candidate must be eligible for licensure by the State of Florida, Board of Clinical Social Work, MFT and Mental Health Counseling.
  • (For Pre-licensed clinician) Masters in Counseling, with 1-3 years of clinical experience, or performing supervised hours.
  • Must have educational and/or clinical background in working with children and trauma.
  • Preferred minimum of two years' experience with youth experiencing trauma, emotional and behavioral issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

 

Compensation: $30 – $35 per hour, 10 hours per week.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and or technical information with others. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Work environment:  Normal Club environment.
