President’s Division:

This role supports the President's Office Division with a dotted line to Centralized Human Resources. The President’s Office division is made up of bold, energetic, and entrepreneurial leaders in policy and planning, strategic communications and marketing, and administrative and fiscal operations who advance UCF’s mission. UCF Human Resources make it their mission to support and advance UCF’s goals by fostering a positive and engaging work environment while identifying and responding to the changing needs of our diverse community.

The Opportunity:

The HR Partner II is responsible for communicating, executing, training, and supporting Human Resources strategy, policy, and programs to their supported unit, and serves in both an advisory and hands-on support role. As such, the role delivers HR services that address the unique needs of the unit in alignment with overall HR strategies and business needs. The HR Partner coordinates with the administrative service center team to provide transaction service delivery support and act as a service escalation point and transaction approver through regular case management requests with a high-touch customer service approach. Overall, the role is expected to foster a culture of engagement by creating a respectful and trusting relationship with managers, leaders, and employees in their supported units on workforce planning and administration, talent management/recruitment, employee relations, and other important elements of the employment life cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise unit leaders on workforce strategies such as talent management plans and recruiting strategies; partnering with and leveraging tools from the central HR office. Collaborate with the central HR office on solutions to critical workforce planning trends and needs on behalf of the department.
  • Provide hands-on support as needed with job postings, job descriptions, and other associated HR tasks.
  • Advise on employee compensation and job reclassifications using the university's compensation framework.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all applicable policies and procedures. Deploy, communicate, and train units on new HR programs, policies, and processes as necessary.
  • Support with departmental onboarding/offboarding activities.
  • Support employee relations matters in consultation with Central HR. Assist with employee engagement activities and programs.
  • Support and tracking of other HR activities such as performance management, compliance, required trainings, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or combination of relevant comparable education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Workday or Similar HR Software
  • Prefer candidate with the ability to communicate in both English and Spanish in order to work effectively with customers and team members.  
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification or certification in process
  • Knowledge and experience in Federal and State of Florida labor laws
  • Ability to work autonomously, extremely proactive and results driven
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and create improved processes for efficiency
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer literacy with specific proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to be able to interface at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, balance multiple projects, set priorities, and work autonomously yet also as a member of a team.
  • Ability to communicate difficult and sensitive information.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population.
