Adult Congenital Heart Disease Advanced Practice Provider

Led by dedicated physicians, advanced practice providers, specialists and caregivers, Arnold Palmer Hospital offers a wide range of advanced pediatric and congenital services in an environment built for pediatric patients as well as adults with congenital diseases.

The Heart Center at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital Offers a combination of compassionate care, advanced treatment options and specialty practice locations throughout Central Florida. The Heart Center is recognized as one of the top pediatric cardiology programs in the nation and named a “Best Children's Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report for more than 13 years. The Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program is just one of the many cardiac specialties offered by our Heart Center and we are in search of an Advanced Practice Provider to join the team built to treat congenital heart disease.

The position is open to an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant with experience in adult cardiology, pediatric cardiology, or Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Common diagnoses included but not limited to:

  • Coronary artery abnormalities
  • Aorta pulmonary window
  • Aorta-left ventricular tunnel/fistula
  • Congenital aortic valve disease including atresia/stenosis/abnormality including bicuspid aortic valve
  • Atrial septal defect, coarctation of aorta
  • Double outlet right ventricle
  • Ebstein anomaly
  • Eisenmenger syndrome
  • Heterotaxy syndromes
  • Interrupted aortic arch
  • Interrupted inferior vena cava
  • Congenital mitral valve disease including parachute and double orifice
  • Straddling and overriding valves
  • Partial anomalous pulmonary venous return/ connection (PAPVR/C)
  • Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA)
  • Congenital pulmonary valve disease including stenosis and atresia
  • All forms of single ventricle physiology
  • Shone's Complex
  • Subaortic membrane/ ridge
  • Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR)
  • Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF)
  • Transposition of the Great Arteries
  • Ventricular inversion
  • Ventricular septal defect (VSD)

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Outpatient clinic responsibilities include specialty clinics, satellite clinic opportunities, hospital follow-ups, and acute care visits.
  • Ability to cover inpatient rounds and consults in collaboration with ACHD physician within the Critical Care/Cardiovascular intensive care unit, Step-Down unit, Acute Care unit, and medical floor unit.
  • Participate in program development, community outreach/education.
  • Stays involved with related CHD/ACHD educational opportunities such as educating medical professionals, participating in research and/or participating in CME related to ACHD by attending conferences, submitting abstracts/posters, presenting locally or nationally.
  • Engages in the road to accreditation as an Adult Congenital Heart Association ACHD Program improving the quality of care for adults with congenital heart disease.
  • Shares in weekend/call coverage rotation as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Master's degree or Doctorate degree in Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant Studies.

Experience

Preferred minimum 2 years' experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in Pediatrics preferably with cardiovascular experience. Previous experience within Adult Congenital Heart Disease is a plus.

Licensure/Certification

  • Nurse practitioner must be certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP-BC), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Adult-Gerontology (ACNPC-AG) to treat patients 18 years and older
  • Physician Assistant fellowship trained in cardiovascular medicine adult or pediatric preferred.
  • Current active certification and licensure in the State of Florida as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
  • Maintains current BLS and ACLS certification.
