The Opportunity:
The Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) is looking for a Training Specialist I to join their team. FSEC is helping transform the building industry to build verified energy-efficient homes. The successful candidate will work on developing curriculum, training contractors in new and existing continuing education courses, helping with training of HERS energy raters, obtaining certifications, and conducting quality inspections to verify contractor performance both with submitted software files and in-field (homes located throughout the Southeast) inspections.
Responsibilities:
Develop curriculum & tests as required to train contractors on latest procedures to comply with various energy efficiency program requirements.
Submit courses for approval from certifying agencies.
Train contractors through webinars, videos, in-person classes including using specific equipment.
Conduct quality energy rater file review to verify files submitted for energy ratings meet all program requirements and file issues and educate the rater on how to correct mistakes.
Conduct quality inspections of homes where energy raters and home efficiency auditors have submitted projects in order to meet program inspection requirements.
Travel involved, including overnight travel.
Take education courses/webinars to learn about job duties and changing program requirements and to learn about building science.
Earn and maintain certification as a HERS trainer.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience. The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with construction or construction documents.
Experience teaching technical capabilities to adults.
Experience conducting energy audits or energy ratings of homes or buildings.
Experience using software that calculates or projects energy use of homes.
Health Assessment Required:
The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
Special instructions to the Applicants:
Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
Position will require the ability to lift 50 lbs., ability to climb ladders, and inspect attics as part of a quality on-site inspection.
