Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant performs a variety of duties for the Affiliate Department such as the recording and processing of financial information, preparing financial reports and ledgers, and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant will also assist the Senior Accountant and Manager with research and resolution of discrepancies. The Staff Accountant can also expect to handle communications with vendors, clients, and internal departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data entry, processing, and recording accounting transactions
  • Processing supplier invoices for payment within Workday
  • Reviewing invoices input into in the system for accounting accuracy as well as proper recording within the general ledger
  • Preparing settlement runs for approval and printing checks upon approval
  • Preparing bi-weekly Affiliate Book to Bank report and Affiliate Flash report
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial statements for affiliate entities
  • Communicating and resolving invoice discrepancies with vendors, and other vendor communications

Other Responsibilities:

  • Prepares quarterly affiliate Affiliate debt Debt report
  • Prepares annual affiliate Affiliate property Property tax report
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial statements for affiliate entities
  • Communicating and resolving invoice discrepancies with vendors, with invoice discrepancies and other vendor communications/ or additional information

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Competencies:

  • Solid communication skills, with proficiency in speaking and writing
  • Complete or comprehensive understanding of accounting practices and procedures
  • Organization, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, productivity and dependability

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in business or accounting an advantage

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • N/A

Computer/Equipment Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Significant experience with software applications such as Quickbooks, Great Plains and Workday

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alphanumeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
