The Opportunity:
This HVAC Specialist II position is solely responsible for the operation of HVAC systems at the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) in Cocoa, FL including troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) associated with HVAC. Additionally, this role is responsible for determining causes and solutions for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems at FSEC.
Responsibilities:
Perform repairs through proper troubleshooting of complex HVAC mechanical and BAS systems as scheduled.
Ensure all repairs of refrigerant systems are in compliance with EPA Section 608 and documented accordingly.
Conduct comprehensive, accurate, and complete HVAC design reviews pertaining to projects and programs projects at FSEC.
Complete building electrical design requirements for all FSEC projects.
Conduct repairs in electrical lighting and circuits.
Secure buildings and grounds at FSEC at the close of business.
Provide technical facilities support to all FSEC departments.
Provide for the administration of all FSEC equipment and property records.
Other related duties with respect to day-to-day operations at FSEC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning; or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
HVAC/R vocational/technical school.
Five to six years of relevant experience.
Previous Journeyperson experience with Commercial HVAC systems over 100 tons.
Previous experience with Commercial HVAC systems Building Automation Systems.
Previous experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
Previous experience with purchasing materials and supplies for use with supported equipment.
Previous experience with calculating HVAC requirements for new and existing structures and associated Research Projects.
Previous experience with boilers repairs and preventive maintenance.
Previous experience with maintaining equipment records and logs.
Previous experience with electrical lighting and circuits.
Previous experience with developing working relationships between department personnel and other members of the organization.
Previous experience with fire alarms, fire sprinklers, and associated equipment to conform with State regulations.
Comprehension of applicable Federal, State, and local safety rules and regulations, including OSHA, Dept. of Health, and the Bureau of Fire Safety.
Section 608 Universal Technician Certification.
Health Assessment Required:
The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
